John Final Reflection

  • What you are most concerned about with teaching and how you will overcome obstacles;
  • What you are most excited or intrigued about with regards to using technology;
  • What you are most excited or intrigued about with teaching;
I decided to focus on these questions for my final assignment as I am now embarking on a longer stay in my current position and wanted to do a quick look into where the profession currently is and where I currently am as a professional. There are so many obstacles to overcome in the education profession that it is hard to tell which is the most vital. To me it seems that the paradigm of classrooms needs to shift in a direction that focuses on research, design and creative thinking. There needs to be more focus in classrooms around the world on logic and problem solving and there is an area that technology can benefit the process. The simply act of deciding how to code simple scratch games can teach elementary students these skills far ahead of just a few years ago. To me it seems that this paradigm shift is not being fostered in the secondary schools around the world. There needs to be more communication and collaboration between grade level teachers from all levels if there is truly going to ever be a structured plan that brings about real education. The most exciting thing to me about education though is that it is filled with people that want to make a difference and want to find the right way to teach and learn. This is why education is at the heart of almost every person's life, both adult and child alie and will continue to be there for years to come. Thanks for listening and great job everybody for finishing!
